HailMapr field guide
Storm history reports for the property you're working
A property can have more than one relevant storm date. HailMapr helps you review available historical weather records at a door pin, distinguish observations from radar estimates, and keep that research connected to the lead.
How to check a door's storm history
- Open the property in Canvass and confirm the pin's location and address.
- Expand Storm history and choose the available year range.
- Run the history lookup and review the returned records.
- Use the report filters to narrow the types and severity of weather you want to review.
- Generate a PDF when you need a report, and check its job status in Your Report Activity.
A broad year range may take longer to process than a focused search. Starting a lookup and generating a PDF are distinct steps; the activity section tracks the door-related work so you can return to it.
Three kinds of evidence—not three ways of saying the same thing
A hail report records an observation at a reported place and time. It may describe measured or estimated hail. The report's location is not a survey of every roof around it.
A radar-derived record estimates weather from radar measurements. It can provide context where no ground observer submitted a report, but it does not confirm the condition of a building.
A warning identifies an area and period of forecast or detected risk. Being inside a warning polygon does not establish that hail reached a particular property. Read these sources together rather than treating every matching record as a separate confirmed damage event.
Use the date, source and map together
Compare candidate dates with the storm library and available radar replay. Check the timestamp and time zone before comparing records across systems, especially around midnight. A daily storm map can cover a window extending into the following calendar day.
Confirm the address and map pin before starting the lookup. An incorrect location can produce irrelevant results even when the underlying weather record is accurate. If a date looks relevant, record what your inspection actually found separately from the historical weather evidence.
Find reports again without starting over
Door-pin storm-history lookups and PDF jobs appear under Your Report Activity on the historic data page. The entry includes status and a link back to the door. Queued or running does not mean the finished document is available yet; wait for the job to complete before downloading.
HailMapr's canvassing workflow lets you retain the property's notes and follow-up alongside the research. Use the account and subscription controls to share the workspace with authorized members of your team.
What a storm history report can and cannot establish
Historical coverage depends on the source, location, date range and available archives. A missing record is not proof that no hail occurred. A matching weather record is not proof of roof damage, the exact date of damage, or insurance coverage.
Use history to support an inspection and a clearly documented discussion. The data and methodology guide explains the distinction between reported hail, mapped estimates and property-level findings.
