This guide explains the HailMapr system in everyday language. Learn what each tool tells you, when to use it, and how the pieces work together to help your team make a clear plan.

Review the eventStorm Library and hail path maps
The Storm Library holds finished storm maps. Each map shows the path hail likely took and the estimated hail-size bands along that path.
How to use it
- Search by date, location, or hail size.
- Open a storm to review its full footprint.
- Buy one map or use your plan to save it in My Maps.
Focus the workGround Impact
Ground Impact highlights where radar data indicates hail was most likely to make it all the way to the ground. It helps separate the strongest target areas from the broader storm path.
How to use it
- Open an owned or sample map and choose Layers.
- Turn on Ground Impact.
- Select the hail sizes you want to see, then click an area for details.
Check the evidenceReports and Storm Replay
Report layers show known hail, wind, tornado, and local observations. Storm Replay shows how the hail path changed over time.
How to use it
- Turn report layers on or off from the map.
- Compare reports with the mapped path and Ground Impact.
- Play the timeline to see when the storm reached an area.
Size the opportunityPopulation and houses affected
Impact totals estimate how many people and houses sit inside the mapped hail area. Breakdowns help you compare states and hail-size bands.
How to use it
- Open the impact summary on a storm map.
- Review total population and houses affected.
- Use the breakdowns to choose markets and plan staffing.
Work the neighborhoodHailMapr Canvass
Canvass turns map locations into an organized door-to-door sales pipeline. Each saved door stays connected to the storm map that led you there.
How to use it
- Add a canvassing door directly from an owned map.
- Record the knock result, contact details, notes, and claim information.
- Assign a rep, schedule an inspection or follow-up, and move the door through the pipeline.
Understand each doorDoor hail probability and storm history
Open a canvassing door to see hail-size probabilities for that exact location and pull a plain-language history of past storms nearby.
How to use it
- Open any saved door from the map or Canvass page.
- Review its hail probability before a conversation or inspection.
- Pull storm history, filter the results, and download a PDF when needed.
Keep teams alignedMy Maps, assignments, and shared work
My Maps keeps purchased and plan-included storms together. Organization plans let team members share canvassing work so visits and follow-ups do not fall through the cracks.
How to use it
- Open My Maps to find every storm you can use.
- Use Canvass to see doors across all of those maps.
- Filter by stage, rep, date, or search term to find the next action.
Read the layer
How to use Ground Impact in the field
Ground Impact estimates where hail was most likely to reach the ground. Color shows the estimated hail-size range. The pattern shows whether that signal held together across the storm or appeared only briefly.

Persistent
A solid area means the hail signal repeatedly held together across multiple radar scans. It is the stronger pattern for choosing a neighborhood to inspect, especially when it also shows a larger hail-size color.
Isolated
A hatched area means the signal appeared in fewer scans or in a smaller, less-connected pocket. Hail may still have reached the ground, but treat it as a secondary lead and look for more supporting evidence.
How roofers can identify the best starting areas
- Turn on Ground Impact and begin with the darkest red, red, or orange areas—the colors tied to the largest estimated hail.
- Within those colors, prioritize solid Persistent shapes before hatched Isolated pockets.
- Look for a connected neighborhood-sized area, not one tiny spot, so a route can cover more likely exposure with less drive time.
- Compare the area with hail reports, warnings, Storm Replay, and the property’s date of loss before starting the route.
- Use Canvass to save doors, assign reps, document inspections, and track follow-up.
Important: Ground Impact is a radar-based targeting tool. It helps identify where to inspect first, but it does not prove that a particular roof was damaged. Confirm conditions with an on-site inspection and property documentation.
